Job Description: Join our team at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as a Support Medical Secretary, where you’ll play a vital role in providing comprehensive secretarial and administrative support within the Pain and MSK Service. Working flexibly as part of a dedicated team, you’ll ensure the smooth operation of clinical services and maintain high standards of patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide full secretarial and administrative support to clinicians and medical secretaries within the Pain and MSK Service.
  • Maintain patients’ health records to the highest standard and ensure timely appointment scheduling and clinic correspondence.
  • Utilize various IT systems and packages, including PAS, TPro (digital dictation system), and Microsoft Office, to carry out duties effectively.
  • Audio type clinical dictation using the TPro digital dictation system and supervise the workload of admin support clerks.
  • Handle phone calls from patients, relatives, and GPs promptly and with the highest level of customer care.
  • Ensure compliance with the Trust’s policies, including the Did Not Attend policy, and follow procedures correctly.
  • Communicate with other departments across the Trust and external stakeholders as required.
  • Maintain accurate records, track case notes, and handle departmental correspondence efficiently.
  • Liaise with hospitals and GP surgeries for information and request radiology images when necessary.
  • Assist in the management of equipment faults and participate in personal appraisals, reviews, and training activities.
