Job Description:

As a Band 7 Safeguarding Adults Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing specialist advice and support concerning adults at risk and safeguarding issues. Your role will involve ensuring that frontline health professionals are well-equipped to handle adult protection and mental capacity matters, promoting good practice, and maintaining compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Advice and Support:
  • Offer expert advice on the management of adults at risk and safeguarding concerns on a day-to-day basis.
  • Provide support and guidance regarding mental capacity assessments and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards/Liberty Protection Safeguards.
  • Assist other professionals in presenting reports at strategy meetings and case conferences.
  • Utilize court craft skills when necessary, coordinating with legal services.

Training and Supervision:

  • Design, deliver, and evaluate training on adult safeguarding, mental capacity, and related topics for staff.
  • Collaborate with service managers to disseminate new developments in safeguarding.
  • Develop awareness-raising plans with other agencies and coordinate multi-agency training.

Co-ordination and Communication:

  • Foster effective communication regarding adults at risk, ensuring consistency across the organization.
  • Liaise with service managers to maintain consistency in safeguarding approaches.
  • Represent the Lead Nurse for Safeguarding Adults at meetings as needed.

Policies and Procedures:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of safeguarding policies and strategies.
  • Work with professionals and agencies to implement recommendations and share information.
  • Ensure procedures are understood and implemented by alerting professionals to any changes.

Audit, Monitoring, and Evaluation:

  • Assist in auditing safeguarding systems and services to improve quality of care.
  • Collaborate on systems of audit to monitor local policies and procedures.
  • Assist with data collection in Serious Case Reviews and disseminate learning from them.

Environmental Responsibilities:

  • Minimize environmental impact in daily activities, including recycling and reducing waste.
  • Consider environmental impact in procurement and equipment use.

Management and Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Ensure staff are aware of NHS strategy and contribute effectively to service improvement.
  • Develop team members, provide supportive management, and conduct Personal Development Reviews.
  • Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in both employment and service delivery.
  • Lead training and development efforts for identified staff members.
