Job Description:
The Medical Administrator at West Heath Surgery serves as the primary point of contact for patients, facilitating communication between patients, doctors, and medical staff.
Responsibilities:
- Reception:
- Greet and direct patients
- Handle telephone and general inquiries
- Schedule appointments and home visits
- Take messages and manage patient communication
- Maintain tidiness in work areas
- Handle cash transactions
- Arrange appointments for medical representatives
- Prepare refreshments
Administrative Tasks:
- Perform administrative workflow tasks using clinical systems
- Assist with data entry and patient record-keeping, including scanning
- Support onward patient management, such as booking appointments and referrals
- Provide chaperone assistance to clinicians as needed
- Offer administrative support to clinicians and managers
Communication:
- Deliver excellent customer service to patients
- Foster effective teamwork among staff
- Identify and address problems and solutions promptly
Special Requirements:
- Adherence to strict confidentiality protocols
Experience:
- Previous office environment experience
- Prior experience as a medical receptionist
- Familiarity with EMIS Web software
Qualifications:
- GCSE English or equivalent Grade C or above
- RSA II typing/word processing or equivalent
Skills:
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English
- Strong organizational skills with accuracy in record-keeping
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
Knowledge:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word
- Understanding of confidentiality and Data Protection Act
- Familiarity with the local area
