Description:

The City of Calgary invites applications for the position of Engineering Assistant – Roadway Data Collection. This role involves managing the Roads Data Collection & Testing Program, conducting inspections, ensuring compliance with road construction specifications, and providing support services in pavement engineering. Key responsibilities include:

• Managing the Road Data Collection & Testing Program, including smoothness verification and pavement layer thickness analysis.
• Conducting site inspections, collecting profiling data, analyzing technical data, and creating reports.
• Performing traffic vibration monitoring, inspections within roads right of way, and responding to complaints.
• Assisting in City material compliance program and providing technical assistance to Engineers as needed.

Qualifications:

• A completed 2-year technical diploma and at least 5 years of related work experience.
• Advanced knowledge of the City of Calgary Road Construction Specifications.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with no more than 6 demerits.
• Basic understanding of ArcGIS is an asset.
• Eligibility for a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills, and good judgement.
• Pre-employment Requirements:
• Must obtain a City of Calgary operator’s permit.
• Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
